1. Policy Statement

Holiday Camp aims to provide a positive, inclusive, and respectful environment where every child feels safe, happy, and supported. We believe in encouraging good behaviour through positive reinforcement, role modelling, and clear expectations.

This policy sets out the behaviour standards we expect from all children and outlines how staff will support and manage behaviour fairly and consistently.

Be kind and respectful to others
Listen and follow instructions from staff
Try their best and show perseverance
Keep hands, feet, and unkind words to themselves
Take care of resources, the venue, and each other

4. Managing Unacceptable Behaviour

We understand that children may test boundaries or experience emotional regulation challenges, especially in a new environment. Our staff are trained to respond with patience and consistency. Unacceptable behaviour may include:

Physical aggression (e.g. hitting, pushing)
Verbal abuse (e.g. name-calling, swearing)
Bullying or excluding others
Refusal to follow instructions
Damaging property or resources
Leaving the group or venue without permission

5. Steps We Take

1. Gentle Reminder – Staff calmly remind the child of expectations.
2. Verbal Warning – If behaviour continues, a firm but respectful warning is issued.
3. Reflection Time – Child is given time away from the group to reset (age-appropriate duration).
4. Parent Notification – Staff will inform the parent/guardian of the incident at pickup.
5. Escalation – For repeated or serious incidents, the Site Lead will call the parent and may request collection.
6. Exclusion – In extreme or unsafe cases, the child may be temporarily or permanently removed from camp (with no refund).
