Child Safety at Holiday Camp – What Parents and Schools Need to Know

Blog

At Holiday Camp, safety isn’t an afterthought — it’s the foundation of everything we do.

We understand the level of trust parents place in us when they drop their children off each morning. We also know that schools and venue partners need assurance that our systems are robust, our staff are accountable, and our spaces are secure.

Here’s how we prioritise the emotional, physical, and safeguarding needs of every child in our care.

Every Staff Member Is DBS Checked and Trained

Before stepping foot on site, every team member must:

  • Hold an Enhanced DBS certificate
  • Complete our safeguarding and child protection training
  • Pass behaviour management and first aid modules
  • Be trained in daily site safety and emergency protocols

Our Site Leads are qualified Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) who lead on all incident reporting and escalation procedures.

Secure Sign-In, Pick-Up, and Parent Communication

We take extra care at arrival and collection times. That includes:

  • Verifying the identity of each adult collecting a child
  • Keeping records of authorised pick-ups and emergency contacts
  • Using electronic registers and daily headcounts

Our staff maintain open, clear communication with parents throughout the week — from daily check-ins to sharing updates and handling concerns promptly.

Clean, Healthy, and Safe Environments

From hygiene to hazard prevention, our camps follow rigorous health & safety procedures:

  • Daily sanitising of all used equipment and surfaces
  • First aid kits accessible in every activity area
  • Clear allergy tracking and medical plan logs
  • Weather-appropriate space planning (indoors and outdoors)

We also conduct daily risk assessments to adapt to space, weather, and group dynamics.

Emotional Safety Matters, Too

Our staff are trained to:

  • Spot and support signs of anxiety or upset
  • Use positive language and restorative behaviour approaches
  • Foster inclusion and zero tolerance for bullying
  • Build trusted adult relationships with every child

We create an atmosphere where children feel seen, heard, and valued — not just supervised.

“It felt like leaving my son with family — the team cared so much about how he was feeling.” – Parent, West Ealing

Accountability and Reporting

If something goes wrong, we don’t hide it — we handle it. Our clear reporting systems ensure:

  • All incidents are logged, reviewed, and followed up
  • Parents are informed quickly and appropriately
  • Safeguarding partners are looped in when necessary

We believe in proactive, transparent communication — and we honour the trust you place in us.

Final Word

You can’t create joy without safety.

That’s why every game, every activity, and every day at Holiday Camp is built on rigorous standards, caring people, and clear protocols.

So your child can have fun — while you enjoy total peace of mind.
